Extreme weather triggered by climate change and rampant, in some cases fatal levels of pollution are threatening to do more than diminish core economic growth: in some developing regions in Africa, where one in four people are undernourished, the situation is life-threatening.
Renewable energy means different things to different people. For some, renewables are a path to halting or even reversing adverse climate change. For others, renewables are a cheaper alternative to fossil fuels, which are a finite resource and hence expensive. For yet others, renewable energy is a safe alternative to energy sources like nuclear energy, which are considered dangerous.
At this point in history, the entire world as we know it is firmly established in terms of energy consumption and distribution. Worldwide, there are hundreds of millions of people who are dependent on energy every day for business, living, and everything in-between.
